documentation required:
1.photo ID (eg driver's licence)
2. letter with Utorid & barcode received from business officer in your department

2. Research staff hired by faculty for limited periods
documentation required:
Your business officer or faculty supervisor supplies letter on department letterhead detailing appointment.
to have TCard issued:
Take letter to Reader Registration Services at Robarts Library (Monday - Saturday, 9 - 5).
3. Visiting faculty and scholars
your administrative location:
University of Toronto department in which you are visiting or working
documentation required:
Letter from University of Toronto department where you are located, with duration of campus address.
Must be on departmental letterhead.

Take letter to Reader Registration Services at Robarts Library(Monday - Saturday, 9 - 5).
4. Research staff with continuing appointments at teaching hospitals
your administrative location:
Research centres in affiliated U of T teaching hospitals;

Start with research office or supervisor in your department who will contact Renata Holder (r.holder@utoronto.ca) re privileges; updated quarterly.
to have TCard issued:
No TCard privileges. Login info for remote access to e-resources will be supplied by your research office.
Replacing a Lost or Stolen Card:
If your card is lost/stolen, it is advisable to report this information, immediately, to any library. A temporary card can be issued, until you are able to purchase a replacement at the TCard Office. The replacement fee is $12.00 (HST included). Any stored cash value on the smart chip is lost when the card is lost.

This is the supervisor's office and handles non routine requests & problems.

Definitions:
- access only: no cards issued; remember number assigned to you
- business office or research office: the administrative officer in your academic department
- library barcode: 14 or 16 digit number which uniquely identifies registered individuals; appears on front of TCards and on back of library cards.
- library card: a card which gives access to library resources; issued by the University of Toronto Libraries; resembles a TCard
- photo ID: for example driver's license, health card
- SAK: secret activation key which may appear on the letter from departmental administrative officer if you do not already have a utoronto.ca mail account
- TCard: a card which gives access to many University of Toronto services including library resources; issued by the University of Toronto at the TCard Office located in Robarts
