University of Toronto Libraries and online accessibility

The University of Toronto Libraries is committed to providing all users with equitable access to our digital spaces, such as the library catalogue, central libraries’ websites, and available online collections.

Accessibility standards

We strive to ensure our web spaces conform to Level AA standards, as per WCAG 2.0 and the AODA (Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act) standards and timelines. This work includes making sites compatible with assistive technologies, such as screen readers, as well as ensuring content is clear and understandable to a wide variety of users. If you experience a barrier when using our web spaces, please let us know

Third party services

If individuals using assistive technologies experience barriers when using third party webpages, interfaces, and applications such as databases or e-book platforms, please let us know. We will request that these vendors and/or site owners remove these barriers. We can also work to provide suitable workarounds or alternatives in the interim.

Alternate formats

If any available content hosted on the library website poses an accessibility challenge or barrier to you, we will work to provide a suitable alternate format. Anyone using our website can let us know what website content is inaccessible and what format is preferred. Library users with borrowing privileges may also be eligible for further alternate format services.
