How can I find a government document on the shelf?

Your government documents are organized differently than other library books; the call numbers on the spines look different than I'm used to. How can I find what I'm looking for on the shelf?

The government documents in our collection are located on the fifth floor of Robarts Library and are organized on the shelf according to a system called CODOC.  This system groups books by

  • the country or international organization (i.e. Canada, United Nations)
  • the level of government (i.e. federal, provincial, municipal)
  • the department, division, or branch (i.e. Health Canada)
  • the date of publication
  • the title

Our help guide explains how to "decode" CODOC.  For help in person, ask library staff on the fifth of Robarts Library.
