Alibaba Cloud Enterprise Network (CEN) Service

Alibaba Cloud Enterprise Network (CEN) Service for students in China

In order to provide access to University of Toronto (U of T) online resources for students and others residing in mainland China, U of T has signed a contract with Alibaba for a network service. Chinese companies are required to operate in accordance with China’s cyber security laws and there is an inherent risk of monitoring for individuals in mainland China using any network solution.

This network service provides a lower latency connection to U of T services for students connecting from mainland China. Note: If you are not attempting to connect to U of T resources from within China please do not use this service.

This service is intended to provide access to specific online U of T resources. Some websites outside of U of T will not be available when using this service, such as YouTube and Yahoo.

Please note: When opening MyAccess (myaccess.library.utoronto.ca) to retrieve some Library resources (e.g. oxfordbooks), you may have to disconnect from the CEN to do so.
Also to note: Both the Teams and the Zoom app work when connected to the Alibaba CEN.

More FAQ on this service can be found on the ITS Preparedness website.
