Administration

Administration contains the office of the Director, communication and outreach services, and department management.

Staff Workstation Support

The staff workstation support team manages library staff workstations and peripherals; software installation, trouble shoorting, and usability support; equipment bookings (e.g. laptops, projectors, webcams, microphone headsets, and USB keys). We create library domain accounts and provide access to shared storage. We maintain regular backups of all server side data and can recover files upon request.

Data Centre and IT Infrastructure

The data centre and IT infrastructure group manages all ITS server, network, data storage, and backup/disaster recovery operations. This involves the management of UTL's data centre, as well as the design and maintenance of 300+ physical and virtual servers, 600 TB disk storage, and 11 networks on campus. We also manage server and application performance, security, availability, and capacity planning for the Library's web and database presence.

Scholarly Communications and Open Access

The scholarly communications and open access services area is dedicated to the TSpace institutional repository; Focus on Research faculty profiles; Journal Production Services; and Open Conference Systems.

Library Web Services

Library web services designs, develops, and supports all central library websites such as the University of Toronto and Gerstein Science Information Centre sites; digital signage; and library kiosks. This unit also leads the web accessibility initiative, holds training for web content providers, involved in responsive web design.

Library Catalogue and Electronic Resources

The library catalogue and our electronic resource unit manage and maintenance of the library catalogue; Summon article search; database management and administration; management of online books, journals and databases; eresource licensing issues; and troubleshooting access issues for electronic resources. This unit also supports mobile development along with the library
