The University of Toronto supports open access in many ways, including through:
TSpace
TSpace is a robust collection of digital holdings that showcase and preserve the work of scholars from the entire University of Toronto community, while simultaneously increasing the visibility of their research. The U of T Libraries have established this faculty space to support the dissemination of knowledge by the University community. This dissemination is already occurring at the graduate level as TSpace is holding the record for all U of T Masters and Doctoral theses.
Since TSpace ensures that your research will be assigned permanent URLs and receive priority indexing on search engines such as Google, faculty research will have a greater impact.
Once a faculty member creates an account, he or she is guided through a series of steps that ensure the submitted files are searchable, accurate, and subject to the license of his or her choosing. It is important to note that copyright is never transferred to TSpace.
For more information on how U of T’s Research Repository can help you publicize and preserve your research, read the TSpace brochure or contact us.
Journal Production Services
The purpose of Journal Production Services (JPS) is to assist University of Toronto's faculty during each stage of the publishing process, from submission through to online publication. JPS allows you to retain a great deal of control over your journals’ content and policies. You can create journals with your own policies, submission requirements, and website designs, simply by filling out form fields. All journals supported by the U of T library must make some of their articles openly accessible.
Editors can configure the editorial process of the journal, manage all online submissions, and install delayed open access options. The JPS site is also an excellent means of increasing the visibility and influence of faculty members’ open-access journals, as it permits any user to browse and search for specific content by journal, author, title, full-text, date, discipline, and keyword.
Visit the JPS site to see the collection of journals hosted by the University of Toronto Libraries.
If you are interested in publishing a journal, please read our Getting started with JPS guide or contact us.
