I. This is a standing committee of the Library Council

II. Membership

Members other than ex-officio shall be appointed by the Sub-committee on Committees for a period of two years with the possibility of reappointment. Each year four of the appointed members shall be considered for retirement or reappointment. Members shall elect their own chair.

III. Terms of Reference

  1. 1. To advise and assist the Manager, Personnel Services in developing, recommending and implementing a strategic plan for staff development in the Library by:

    a. initiating and organizing essential job-related development programmes.
    b. Monitoring and coordinating all broadly based staff development programmes offered in the Library.
    c. Addressing the education and development needs of the three staff groups on wide consultation with members of those groups.

  2. To operate primarily as a core group and to invite resource personnel as appropriate.

  3. To report to the Library Council in June and as necessary.
