6.24 Quotations

6.24.1 SGML

Consider using the <cit author="" work=""> ... </cit> tag to enclose the name of any written work cited in a text. The attribute gives the standard form of the name of the work. Quotations are enclosed with the tag <quot work="" author="" type=""> ... </quot>. These attributes permit us to give the source and the author of the quotation, where ascertainable, and the type of quotation, word-for-word (type="exact") or paraphrase (type="paraphrase"). Note that the <quot> tag is nested here within the <cit> tag. See TEI P3, pp. 899-900.

6.24.2 COCOA

Consider using the <cit xxx> ... <cit -> tag to enclose the name of any written work cited in a text. The value xxx is the place to give the standard form of the name of the work. Quotations are enclosed with the tag <quotation xxx> ... <quotation ->. The value xxx gives the source of the quotation.
