ITER Communities Exposed

Iter, http://www.itergateway.org, is a not-for-profit partnership dedicated to the advancement of learning in the study and teaching of the Middle Ages and Renaissance (400-1700) through the development and distribution of online resources. For almost 20 years Iter, meaning a journey or path in Latin, has worked closely with University of Toronto Libraries, a partner in Iter, to facilitate worldwide access to an ever-growing wealth of resources within Iter's scope.

Did you know:

Renaissance literally means rebirth, and is the period in European civilization immediately following the Middle Ages. To the scholars and thinkers of the day it was a time of the revival of Classical learning and wisdom after a long period of cultural decline and stagnation. The Renaissance witnessed the discovery and exploration of new continents, the substitution of the Copernican for the Ptolemaic system of astronomy, the decline of the feudal system and the growth of commerce, and the invention or application of powerful innovations including paper, printing, the mariner’s compass, and gunpowder.

Join the staff of Iter, Annabela, Ken, Marian and Margaret, as they expose the network of communities and activities they manage.

The ITER office is located on the 7th floor of the John P. Robarts Research Library.
