What are license terms?
The University of Toronto has licensed an extensive e-resources collection that is available to faculty, staff, students and other authorized users. In order to make these e-resources available to our users, the library signs contracts with different vendors and publishers; these contracts set out specific terms and conditions that users are responsible for complying with when accessing content.
You will notice that what is permitted may not be uniform across all resources.
Where do I find license terms?
You will find license terms listed when you select an e-resource in LibrarySearch. Select “show license” to expand the terms.
How to read the terms of the license
Below is a general definition of license terms you will see in LibrarySearch. Please note that we continue to make improvements to the presentation of this information and it is subject to change.
If the proposed use falls within the scope of what is permitted by the license, it is not necessary to inquire further. If you do have further questions, please contact library.licensequeries@utoronto.ca
