On behalf of the University of Toronto Libraries, I offer my wholehearted congratulations to Melanie Woodin, Dean of the Faculty of Arts & Science, on being named the 17th president of the University of Toronto.
Dean Woodin brings a wealth of experience to this role as both an academic and an administrator. As a world renowned neuroscientist and professor, she has published a wealth of academic books, papers and chapters, driving critical research about the ways neurons affect brain function and neurological diseases and disorders. And under her leadership, the Faculty of Arts & Science – the largest faculty in Canada – has reached exceptional new heights in innovation and initiatives to enhance teaching and learning.
Dean Woodin is a visionary leader with a demonstrated passion for scholarship and ideas. I’m greatly looking forward to working with her as president to advance the role of libraries as essential spaces for research, learning and community. She is an ideal advocate for U of T and will ensure we remain at the national and global forefront of academic excellence.
Sincerely,
Larry Alford
