University of Toronto agrees to Open Access publishing deal with SAGE

The University of Toronto (U of T) has signed on to participate in a three-year open access agreement with SAGE Publishing through the Canadian Research Knowledge Network (CRKN).

Through the agreement, which began January 1, 2021, U of T researchers may now publish their research as open access without having to pay for Article Processing Charges (APC) in more than 900 SAGE Choice journals (some exclusions apply). This agreement includes the Royal Society of Medicine (RSM) and Institute of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) journals.

In addition, the agreement includes a 40% discount on APCs in SAGE’s gold open access journals

This deal is part of the ongoing strategy by the University of Toronto Libraries (UTL) to support initiatives that work towards immediate and barrier-free access to research. As UTL partners with other Canadian universities through CRKN to negotiate access to a wide range of resources, this consortium enables us to leverage our collective purchasing power and work towards advancing open scholarship.
