Update Changes to Distribution of MATLAB for July 1, 2024 to June 30, 2025

Update July 4, 2024: We are pleased to inform you that the University of Toronto has successfully negotiated a one-year extension of our MATLAB license through collaboration with the Faculty of Applied Science & Engineering, Office of the Chief Information Officer, and the University of Toronto Libraries.

This extension is made possible through joint funding by Rotman School of Management, Faculty of Kinesiology & Physical Education, Faculty of Applied Science and Engineering, Faculty of Arts and Sciences, University of Toronto Mississauga, University of Toronto Scarborough and the University of Toronto Libraries.

What does this mean for you? You can continue using MATLAB without the need to purchase an individual license from the Licensed Software Office or MathWorks. Additionally, there are some changes coming up:

  1. Access Update: Access to the MathWorks website and software activation have transitioned from email address-based authentication to Single Sign-On (SSO). You can now login at the MathWorks Access for University of Toronto Portal to access the software. Individuals will need to use their U of T email address along with UTORid/password to download, activate, and launch the product.
  2. Installation Instructions:

If you currently use a concurrent license manager, we request that you transition to the shared computer model. We will continue to provide the necessary license files during this transition. Please see the technical information on transitioning from a concurrent license manager
